5.5  Nanping ( ) Village 

Nanping Village is located in the southwest of Yixian County and is a town with a thousand years of history. It has many well-preserved ancestral halls and about 300 ancient buildings of the Ming and Qing dynasties.

 

Also of interest are its numerous maze-like networks of narrow lanes, which are said to be 72 in number - a Daoist magical number, like the 72 peaks of Huangshan Mountain.

 

“Judou”, a famous movie, was produced in Namping Village.

5.6  Xidi (西 递) Village

Xidi Village has 124 well-preserved residential houses and 3 clan temples dating back to the Ming and Qing Dynasties. There is a glorious memorial archway in front of the village. The ancient houses have fine wood and brick carvings reflecting the local culture and customs.

 

Xidi Village is known as “Home in Wonderland” and is another World Cultural Heritage Site.

5.7  Jixi ( ) County

 

Longchuan, an ancient village in Jixi County is the home of the Hu family for over 1,800years. It is the ancestral home of the current President of the Peoples’ Republic of China.

 

Among the well-preserved historical buildings in Longchuan, the Hu Family Ancestral Hall is outstanding with its grandiose architecture and magnificent wood sculptures.
